11:39 am 12/14/2008 : We Updated the page to include most of the finish line photos
2:13 am 12/15/2008 : We Updated the page to include most of the Last corner photos.. still plenty to post
12:50 am 12/17/2008 : Most of the photos should be posted with the exception of the last half hour in the final Corner. We discovered that the clock on the camera B (final corner cam) was about 10 minutes slow...
We went to the marathon in the city of luck again this year. We were resolved to avoid some of the problems that plagued us last year, specifically glare from the sun, and bad location. We think we did a pretty good job at this race, there was no sun to battle. Which was Great for the runners too!!
We were in 3 locations over the course of the race, (The vast majority of our shot's were of marathon participants..we had limited memory due to the RAW experiment)
1.)Freemont street(Marathon Only..the half marathon had already split off and was running one block south)
2.)The final corner before the finish
3.)The Finish Line(Marathon+some Half Marathon runners that finished in proximity to a Marathon runner)
The Raw Experiment
The whole race was shot in RAW. This means that instead of the typical JPG file which we usually obtain from the camera we received NEF (we are in the Nikon camp) files. A typical NEF file uses about 10.5 megabytes of space, that is about 3 times the amount of space the JPG takes...We shot about 80gig's worth of Smiles, then we had to quit because we ran out of memory cards.
Shooting in RAW allows us to modify/clean up the images. It also allows us to put the photos through the "Awesome" filter and make them look like the ones below. It is a little time intensive to do, if you are interested send us a note marathonpix@gmail.com.
| We love going to the races and experiencing all they have to offer...We would like to be able to continue offering this service. If you have found our website helpful in your memory preservation, feel free to send a couple of dollars our way :) |

| We love this sport! What other sport can just about anyone compete with superHERO's? ...even ones that can fly and others that will hopefully get their powers back!!! |
